The Book of Psalms has often been called a “school of prayer”—words written by real people seeking God that continue to give us words when our own are sometimes hard to find. This study takes a closer look at six particular psalms, exploring themes of awe, beauty, mercy, certainty, time, and love, and considering why these ancient prayers continue to speak so deeply to us, the Church, and the world today.

Along the way, participants will explore the world behind these psalms, including their historical settings, meaningful Hebrew phrases, and the ways people throughout history have turned to them in moments of joy, struggle, hope, and uncertainty. Together, the class will consider how these timeless words can shape our own prayers and transform the way we live with God.
