Hi friends! Today we finish the book of Zechariah which means we are moving on to the FINAL prophetic book of the Old Testament. Woah!! You all have done amazing. As we finish this book today I consider you make a note of what about this text you are thankful for, what about it was confusing or you struggled with, and where in it do you find evidence of Jesus (or the good news)? Trigger warning - sexual assault against women is mentioned and named but no details beyond that are offered. This does not happen till chapter 14 so if that's something you need to skip over you can still read the first few without problem.

Questions to Consider
What does this teach me about God?
What does this teach me about what was happening at the time?
What, if anything, feels applicable to today? What does it challenge me to do in response?
What is the 'good news' of Zechariah?
No my thoughts today as I have another special Bible Project video for you! yay! This one is called the Day of the Lord. Is it a day of calamity? Peace? Rapture? Revelation? All those questions answered and more :)
Praying the Hymns
Our prayer for today is inspired by hymn 217 in our United Methodist Hymnal - Away in a Manger. You might not have ever heard of this one before I think you'll enjoy it ;) sing out in mind, body, or spirit as we not only consider an advent hymn but also the advent of us being so close to being in the New Testament! Possibly a bold move here but I'm linking a non traditional version of the song by Pentatonix. While I'm not 100% in love with their version of it, I think it's important to consider and appreciate different styles of beloved music.
if you're looking for something a little more traditional while still having a unique spin Philly Boi always does a good job at modernizing hymns and the production value of this music video is probably more than our annual budget so thats a thing.
Away in a manger No crib for a bed The little Lord Jesus Laid down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky Looked down where He lay The little Lord Jesus Asleep on the hay
The cattle are lowing The Baby awakes But little Lord Jesus No crying He makes
I love You, Lord Jesus Look down from the sky And stay by my side Until morning is nigh
Be near me, Lord Jesus I ask You to stay Close by me forever And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children In Your tender care And fit us for heaven To live with You there
