The United Methodist Church of Chagrin Falls engages in the work of Christ both here at home and worldwide. Local initiatives focus on food, family and community.
Food ministries include the First Sunday Food Drive to fill the Hunger Barrel which in turn goes to local food pantries in Bainbridge, Aurora and Chagrin Falls; Greater Cleveland Food Bank monthly volunteer opportunities; and the annual CROP Hunger Walk to “end hunger one step at a time.” CROP Hunger Walk proceeds benefit the Geauga Hunger Task force locally as well as international development work of Church World Service.
Community service focuses on Apostles’ Build/Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity and Nehemiah Mission of Cleveland projects in neighborhoods throughout the Cleveland area.
Highlights of international engagement include the various projects of our United Methodist Women, Heifer International, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), and Midwest Mission Distribution Center.
Heifer International helps bring “sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty” with the goal of helping families achieve self reliance.
UMCOR is the not-for-profit global humanitarian aid organization of the United Methodist Church, working in more than 80 countries worldwide, including the United States, to alleviate human suffering – whether caused by war, conflict or natural disaster.
Midwest Mission Distribution Center (MMDC) provides disaster relief, education, and medical supplies to those in need locally, nationally, and worldwide. Our church provides MMDC with cleaning buckets, personal dignity kits, layette kits and school kits.
Our church members actively participate in many family ministries through Geauga County Job & Family Services, including sponsoring families for the holidays, Coats for Kids (and Adults), and Help Me Learn school supply collections.
